“Tag…You’re it!”- Week 3, Day 1

So here in the United States it is a holiday, Memorial Day to be exact. I told myself I would take the day off to enjoy all the things you typically do on this holiday which is spend time with friends and family, maybe attend a barbeque or two & generally reflect on the day and enjoy! Which I am going to do right after I tell you about this…

We are now in Week 3 of our little “Tag…You’re it!” game & I  just couldn’t resist letting you all know about today’s tag. As some of you may already know I am completely head over heels with todays ‘tagger”, mengsel design.  Luzelle from mengsel design was tagged by leefee photography. “Tag…You’re it!” Week 2, Day 5

Where has the week gone? I guess it’s true what they say, “time flies when you’re having fun!”  So Wednesday a Quick Study tagged  lee fee photography. So this meant that Silvana from lee fee photography had to tag another artist. I’m so excited about Silvana’s choice! This week on What’s New Wednesday…

The Little House with the Yellow Door

is a hand-drawing of a house.

I love to doodle. I find myself jotting down images of homes in notebooks, on scraps of paper & in my head. I’m in love with the idea of home and creating the “perfect” home. The perfect home for me isn’t big nor is it very fancy. But what it is is a place to feel comforted in. It’s a place filled with the things & people that make memories and happy times. My own home is filled with my favorite boys (my son & my man) my dogs, cats, lots of laughter and of course, Swimmy the fish. It’s somewhat modern but with a playful feel to it. My home is constantly evolving and changing as the mood strikes me.

This illustration was inspired by the idea of the perfect home to me…simple, festive, welcoming and always wrapped in love!

It’s that time again…

…for a new exhibition over at Paper ‘n Stitch. I always get somewhat giddy come this time. Paper ‘n Stitch never disappoints in curating the loveliest of shops. When you have a few moments definitely go and indulge in some eye candy. My mother’s birthday is right around the corner so I definitely have my eye on a few items already. Then there’s Father’s Day, and my nieces birthday in June…Oh boy, hate to chat and run but I’ve got some browsing to do.

…and happy it is! I love this time of year when friends & family can get together, spend time outdoors with the kids running around, surrounded by the wagging of happy dog tails, music always in the background. We ate yummy foods, drank yummy white wine, laughed, played and really appreciated the goodness of family.…just happy, lovely chaos. Just the way I like it!

And what a lovely week it has been! Our fun game of Tag…You’re it! exceeded my expectations. I was awed by all the creative talent from the get-go. But, reading everyone’s lovely words about what inspires them about another “makers” work has only been more fuel for my steadily burning, slightly out of control, creative flame. I just so love seeing creative folks appreciating each other!

When I reflect back and think about all the folks who participated this week I’m left with such a feeling of gratitude. Gratitude for the time you all took out of your already busy schedules, gratitude for inspiring me and others and mostly gratitude for the beautiful work you put out into the world everyday!

Simply said…thank you!

“Tag…you’re it!” Oh I am super excited to be able to “tag'’ this lovely, lovely shop! I have to admit, I am not typically into jewelry but there was something about Rebecca’s creations that immediately drew me in & I was instantly smitten! Her designs are quite charming to say the least and the colors are utterly yummy! The Ardent Sparrow seems to capture a nostalgic feel of a time long ago when men and woman dressed elegantly from head to toe for a night out on the town. Can you see yourself  dressed in a beautiful gown wearing one of Rebecca’s creations? I most certainly can. Which one’s would you pick?

“Tag…You’re it!” Kick Off Day

…is finally here!!! Today marks the first day of the on-line version of the childhood game. Do you remember when you were a kid on the playground? A good game of “Tag” was almost a sure-fire way of  kids who didn’t know each other very well becoming fast friends by the end of the game!

Happily, I’ve collaborated with quite a few folks from Paper ‘n Stitch to get a game going & I couldn’t be more excited! It’s our way of sharing some of the beautiful talent over at Paper ‘n Stitch. As my son would say, “Sharing is Caring”. ;) It’s also my hope that just like your childhood days, new friendships will be made  along the way.

So here is how it will work in a nutshell. Almost daily for the next couple of weeks a new “maker” will be “tagged” and featured on the site of a fellow artist. It’s that simple but should be “oh so  much fun!!”! To keep up with who is being tagged just keep checking back here at indo bay where I will link you to where you need to go to see who  has been tagged that day.

So I’m heading off to get my shorts and sneakers on. I think I’ll stretch a bit before the game begins ‘cuz this gal isn’t as young as she use to be. Getting ready to call all my playmates to meet me at the playground. I’ll be the one today yelling out, “Tag…you’re it!” So meet me at the Playground to see who I’m going to be tagging…Can’t wait!

…is almost upon us! Remember your childhood days when the warm weather would beckon you outdoors. The neighborhood kids would gather outside and you could hear the exuberant cries of, “Tag…you’re it!”

What’s New…Wednesday

I kind of like the colorful, playful chaos that adorns  my fridge. I have anything from Ty’s original artwork, postcards of dental appointment reminders, pictures of our family & furry friends, & of course, our calendar of important events. Whoever thought of making the fridge magnetic is a genius in my book. Ok, so now here is where a bit of my slightly “ocd” personality comes in. I don’t mind the varied arrangement on my fridge but I like my magnets to be consistent. Go figure…sorry, I can’t  help it! ;)

So in my search for strong but somewhat modern but sweet magnets, I decided to make my own. Check them out & come back here and tell me what you think.

...So this morning I was feeling just kind of "stuck". I knew there were e-mails I needed to get out, new designs to work on, product pics to shoot, and the list goes on. But I just couldn't get myself going. The perfect remedy...Color Me Katie!

Are you asking what Color Me Katie is? This blog has to be one of the most creative, colorful, utterly enchanting blogs I have come across. Katie Sokoler is a free-lance photographer and street artist living in Brooklyn (my hometown by the way). She has this very happy, uninhibited, fearless persona about her that I am completely smitten by. I love how she goes around the streets of Brooklyn leaving bits of her "oh so magical" art. She has such a way of mixing the fantasy with reality...pure magic! So now after a good cup of coffee and a strong dose of Color Me Katie...I am once again inspired to create! May I suggest a dose of Color Me Katie to help brighten your day!

"What's New Wednesday"...

...is "happy & lovely!" It must be Springtime because I'm loving brighter colors and cheery, whimsical items. I know buntings are everywhere but you have to admit they are so much fun to look at. I've added some hand-illustrated buntings & blooms to a creamy white mug. Each bunting is adorned with the words "happy" "lovely". How much better would a cup of coffee or tea be in these sweet mugs...don't ya think? :)
