Can I get an AMEN for another GIVEAWAY…

When someone’s email begins with, “I love all of the happiness that is going on in your shop”, how can you not just give them whatever they want!

All kidding aside, I received this sweet email from Brooke from Grace and Light Studio asking if I would help celebrate her birthday week by doing a giveaway. She had me at the first line of her e-mail so of course I couldn’t resist taking part in her celebration.

Can you help?…

I was recently contacted by a woman who only knew what I made but nothing about “my story”. She was contacting me to see if I could help with an auction she was putting together to help a friend who had recently lost her husband to cancer. This is a young mother with two children, ages 2 and 5 years old. In receiving this e-mail I was instantly taken back to the year 2003 when I suddenly became a young widow with an 18 month old baby. Needless to say I jumped, actually LEAPED at the chance to donate a few items to help what has now become an online friend.

Valerie Koop is the woman and she chronicles her journey through grief & coping so beautifully here. I leave my comments hoping, if only to let her know I was once there, what she is feeling is normal, and that after a long dark period there really is light at the end of the tunnel.

If you are inclined to check out the auction, which I hope you will, please visit the House of Koop {here}. When I lost my husband, friends did something similar to raise money for my son and I. I cannot express to you how that single act of kindness, not to mention how helpful the money raised was in paying bills, etc, helped put a smile on my face after feeling like I had lost the ability to smile.
